Mexican... And More!
A staple in every foodie’s diet is Mexican Food. We all have our favorite places to go and we all have our favorite dishes… And we are all wowed by how fast our food comes out. It’s Mexican food and it is just how it is.
When we first moved to our current home, we wanted to try out the spots around us. We stumbled upon Fronteras Tacos • Tequila • Wine at first because had sent a coupon and we are suckers for a bargain.
When we got there, we were promptly greeted and taken to a high-top table at the bar. This has become our go-to spot every time we visit. There tends to be less kids over there and we’ve done our time raising children. It’s a nice reprieve.
Latin and Central American Traditional Classics As Well
We were pleasantly surprised to find that they are not at all a Mexican restaurant, but a Latin dining experience. The menu even calls out if a dish is from Mexico or Cuba or Puerto Rico.
Best part is, those dishes are authentic. We’ve had Cuban folks with us who have raved about the authenticity. Our friend Felix, who is from Puerto Rico, raved about the Mofongo, saying: “The Mofongo’s taste and quality is much like I have had in Puerto Rico and Chicago!”
One Simply Must Mofongo
Speaking of the Mofongo… That’s what Craig had last night. He has a rule about leftovers that have shrimp in them. He simply doesn’t do it. Something about reheated shrimp makes him turn up his nose.
We have the leftovers from last night in the fridge this morning. He was NOT letting that delightful meal go to waste.
Rich and hearty with a generous portion of shrimp and sauce… and just the right amount of spice… It’s a taste sensation!

Great Place to Meet Friends or Take Family
Last night was a special occasion. We were having dinner with our youngest daughter and her new beau. The conversation was great and everyone really enjoyed their food.
Our new addition enjoyed the Vaca Frita, a Cuban dish. It is thin strips of brisket marinated in citrus juice and garlic then seared with onions. served with white rice, and black beans and sweet plantains. He ate everything on the plate, saving the plantains for dessert. It’s also what Craig does when he has that dish. Scored some definite brownie points with the dads.
Our little princess got two of the barbacoa street tacos and a side of Mexican rice. She described the meat as “holy shit that’s good!”
A Signature Dish: That Sriracha Burrito -- Oh My!
Mike got the Sriracha Burrito. One big burrito filled with steak, white rice, whole pinto beans and pico de gallo. Covered with melted cheese and their special sriracha sauce. Mike is currently trying to watch food portions. He watched the entire portion disappear into his mouth. It is spicy and delicious, overstuffed with goodness, and a great balance of flavors.
All of this happened AFTER we enjoyed the trio dip with their in house made tortilla chips. Pair this all with their incredible margaritas and you have yourself one heck of an experience.

We have been to Fronteras many, many times… and we will definitely keep on returning. The interior is not overdone, but it is definitely nice. It’s not too bright, not too dim.
The noise level may be a bit lively on a busy night, but it just adds to the fun atmosphere where you can still enjoy great conversations with your table mates. Plus, they have an absolutely charming little patio that’s perfect for soaking up the sun during those summer months!
