A Symphony of Elegance and Taste

We are normally pretty lighthearted in our reviews, sharing the humor we share in our experiences, but Third & Hollywood is a higher level than our silly humor. With a menu that covers the gamut, from burgers to steaks to seafood and everything in between, we can't help but give this review the attention it deserves. Before we go down the path of seriousness, though, let us just say this:

GET THE DANG BISCUITS!!!

Iron Skillet Cheddar Herb Biscuits

A specialty that we were lucky enough to enjoy for a starter was the Iron Skillet of Cheddar Herb Biscuits with a side of their in-house made pimento cheese. These came out piping hot, perfectly cooked, and quite literally exploding with flavor. One would not expect a biscuit and pimento cheese to have such an impact, but this dish really set our night up to be the joy it turned out to be.

Whiskey Smash

Makers Manhattan

Can I get you something from the bar?

Craig started with the Whiskey Smash, which is a tastebud-inspiring concoction comprised of Woodford Reserve, blueberries, fresh lemon, and thyme. It was nicely balanced and not convoluted with everyone's smash staple, simple syrup. The natural sweetness from the fruit made it a delicious starter. Mike chose the Makers Manhattan. Simply crafted with Makers Mark bourbon, vermouth, and a cherry, this drink only stood out because the vermouth was meticulously measured and exactly the right amount. Had there been room for a 3rd cocktail, Mike would have repeated this one.

Round Two! Ding! Ding!

We ordered another round to enjoy with dinner and, though we were intrigued by the extensive wine offering, we chose to do another round from the cocktail menu. Mike bravely ordered the Aperol Spritz. Many of you know, Aperol is a tricky one. It is either going to be too strong or not strong enough. Third & Hollywood made this drink PERFECTLY. If you've had one in the past, go here and compare. Theirs will be better. Though Craig enjoyed another Whiskey Smash, our friend Steph ordered a La Paloma. This isn't just beautifully presented, it is skillfully poured and brings just the right amount of tartness to the drink.

We've made you wait long enough to talk about the main courses so, without further ado, The Mains.

Craig fell madly in love.

Let's clear something up really quickly. Though Craig absolutely loves his steaks, his true passion is vegetables. He'd be perfectly content living 90% of his life existing on nothing but salad. So, when he saw Seared Tuna with Chopped Vegetables, he was all in. He loves seared tuna. He's obsessed with vegetables. It was a match made in heaven. What he didn't expect, however, was the carefully curated mix of spinach, tomatoes, onions, avocado, beets, fingerling potatoes, white beans, and chèvre. And to be drizzled with the tantalizingly good caper-dijon dressing, he was immediately sold. He hasn't "mmm'd" and "whoa'd" that much in his entire life.

When in Ohio: Great Lakes Walleye

Pan-fried and served with a garlic aioli and ultra-creamy mashed potatoes that are bursting with a symphony of flavors!

Here, fishy fishy fishy...

When we asked our friend Steph, who is clearly a better and more descriptive writer than us, what she though about her Great Lakes Walleye experience, she said this: It is expertly pan-fried to achieve a delicate golden crust, the walleye's tender, flaky texture shines in every bite. Served alongside velvety mashed potatoes, which have just the right amount of scallions inside, this pairing offers a comforting balance of elegance and heartiness. The crowning touch is a fresh herb aioli!. Hang out with smart friends. Through osmosis, they make you smarter. And we thank you, Steph, for your tauntingly tempting description of your meal!

Oh, and listen to the pros! Our server, Delanie, suggested a paired bite with a little fish, a little bit of potatoes, and a dip of the aioli. And she was very much correct!

*keep in mind, this is normally paired with coleslaw, but Steph opted for the mashed potatoes.

And then there was Mike.

So listen, have you ever had a burger that was seasoned so perfectly that you decided to skip the bun, peel off the cheese, and eat that hunk of meat with a knife and fork? Well - Mike did that. Granted, even the bun was fantastic and he went back to finish that off, but the burger patty, sourced from Brandt Family Farms, was a immediate WOWZA! Salty, peppery, spicy, garlicy, perfect-y... There are so many ways to describe this masterpiece. He almost ordered a second one to-go. It was THAT good.

Satisfying that sweet tooth...

Honestly, at this point, we didn't think it would be possible to eat anymore food, but the dessert menu looked so good, we couldn't dream of missing out. We could hear the dishes calling us, so we had to order three. Oof. That's a lot of food. Once again though, for you, we forged ahead. The chocolate Mousse was creamy and salty and chocolaty with just the right amount of smoothness to make it irresistible. We were warned that the Pecan Pie had "a few" dark chocolate pieces spread throughout. "A few" truckloads, maybe. Sweet, savory, and FILLING. A definite must-have. And the pièce de résistance... that gorgeous Lemon Square. Are you freaking kidding me? Lemony, nutty, crunchy, smooth, perfect. Get it. Get two. Take one to your neighbor, they'll probably cut your grass next year. Absolute perfection.

The End.

You owe it to yourselves to give Third & Hollywood a try. From the impeccable service, the astonishingly good food, the beautiful presentation, and the absolutely gorgeous atmosphere, it is perfect for a date, a lunch, a gathering of friends, or any other occasion you want to remember. We can't recommend Third & Hollywood enough and hope you love it as much as we did.
